Just in time for Thanksgiving! These cute little baskets are a fun and quick project. I used a 6'' and 8'' wooden basket bottom along with t-shirt yarn in the colors Rusted Orange and Moss (500 grams each). All the materials can be found at Aster and Vine She has so many beautiful colors to choose from!

5 mm hook / 9 mm hook
T-shirt yarn - I used Moss and Rusted Orange 500 grams each.

Ch - Chain
Sc - Single Crochet
Sl St - Slip Stitch
ScBlo - Single Crochet Back Loop Only
Color A (A) - Rustic Orange
Color B (B) - Moss
Pattern Notes:
Both patterns are worked using tapestry crochet. Be Sure to always single crochet in the back loop only, and work over the yarn not in use. We will be working in continuous rounds (No joining or Ch 1 between rows) Be sure to place a stitch marker on the last stitch of each round.
Work the colors in any order you would like for the 6” I started with color B
And for the 8” I started with color A.
Pattern: (for 6 inch bottom)
Round 1: With 6” wooden bottom and a 5 mm hook (using color B) cast on and Sc around the bottom of the basket. Finish off the top of the last Sc with color A and place a stitch marker. Remember no joining or Ch 1 (36 sc)
Round 2: Switch to a 9 mm hook
Work the following in ScBlo - A1, B2, A6, B2, ** A2, B2, A6, B2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around until the last Sc and A1. Place a stitch marker.
Round 3: Work the following in ScBlo - A2, B2, A4, B2, ** A4, B2, A4, B2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last 2 St’s A2, finishing off the top of the last Sc with color B. Place a stitch marker.
Round 4: Work the following in ScBlo - B1, A2, B2, A2, B2, A2, ** B2, A2, B2, A2, B2, A2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last St B1. Place stitch marker.
Round 5: Work the following in ScBlo - B2, A2, B4, A2, ** B4, A2, B4, A2** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last 2 St’s B2. Place Stitch Marker.
Round 6: Work the following in ScBlo - B3, A2, B2, A2, ** B6, A2, B2, A2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last 3 St’s B3. Place stitch marker.
Round 7: Cut A, leaving a tail to work over. With B Sc in the next 3 St’s, Ch 6, skip 6 St’s and Sc in the 10th St (from the beginning of the round) Sc in the next 10 St’s, Ch 6, skip 6 St’s and Sc in the 28th St (from the beginning of the round) Sc in the next 8 St’s. Place stitch marker.
Round 8: Sc in the next 3 St’s, Sc 6 around the Ch 6 (from the previous round) Sc in the next 11 St’s, Sc 6 around the Ch 6 (from the previous round) Sc in the next 7 St’s, Sl St into the last St. Leave a tail and cut yarn. Weave in all ends.
Pattern : (For 8 inch bottom)
Round 1: With the 8’’ wooden bottom and a 5 mm hook (using color A) cast on and Sc around the bottom of the basket. Finish off the top of the last Sc with color B and place a stitch marker. Remember no joining or Ch 1 (48 Sc)
Round 2: Switch to a 9 mm hook
Work the following in ScBlo - B1, A2, B6, A2, ** B2, A2, B6, A2 ** Repeat from ** to ** until the last Sc and B1. Place a stitch marker.
Round 3: Work the following in ScBlo - B2, A2, B4, A2,** B4, A2, B4, A2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last 2 St’s B2, finishing off the top of the last Sc with color A. Place a stitch marker.
Round 4: Work the following in ScBlo - A1, B2, A2, B2, A2, B2, ** A2, B2, A2, B2, A2, B2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last St A1. Place stitch marker.
Round 5: Work the following in ScBlo - A2, B2, A4, B2, ** A4, B2, A4, B2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last 2 St’s A2. Place stitch marker.
Round 6: Work the following in ScBlo - A3, B2, A2, B2, ** A6, B2, A2, B2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last 3 St’s A3. Place stitch marker.
Round 7: Work the following in ScBlo - A2, B2, A4, B2, ** A4, B2, A4, B2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last 2 St’s A2. Place stitch marker.
Round 8: Work the following in ScBlo - A1, B2, A2, B2, A2, B2, ** A2, B2, A2, B2, A2, B2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In last St’s A1. Finish off the top of the last St with B. Place stitch marker.
Round 9: Work the following ScBlo - B2, A2, B4, A2, ** B4, A2, B4, A2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last 2 St’s B2. Place stitch marker.
Round 10: Work the following ScBlo - B1, A2, B6, A2, ** B2, A2, B6, A2 ** Repeat from ** to ** around. In the last St B1. Finish off the top of the last St with A. Place stitch marker.
Round 11: Cut B here, leaving a tail to work over. With A Sc in the next 2 St’s, Ch 8, skip 8 St’s and Sc in the 11 St (from the beginning of the round) Sc in the next 15 St’s, Ch 8, Skip 8 St’s and Sc in the 35th St ( from the beginning of the round) Sc in the next 12 St’s. Place stitch marker.
Round 12. With A Sc in the next 2 St’s, Sc 8 St’s around the Ch 8 (from the previous round) Sc in the next 15 St’s, Sc 8 St’s around the ch 8 ( from the previous round), Sc in the next 11 St’s. Sl St in last St. Leave a tail and cut yarn. Weave in all ends.
